Definitions:

Schedule 40 PVC (“polyvinyl Chloride”) pipe: A very durable vinyl pipe which is water resistant.

Crush Stone: Acts as a “filter” which allows the flow of water preventing small particles to pass through.

Sump Pump Pit: an excavated pit which water is directed to (via PVC pipes.)

Sump Pump: An electrical system used to pump the water out of the basement and into an outdoor underground PVC line (which will be directed away from home.)
